Neighborhood Peer Support
In response to requests from Amara families, we are partnering with the Program for Early Parent Support (PEPS) to offer a structured model of neighborhood-based peer support for foster and adoptive families. Since 1983, PEPS, a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization, has been helping parents connect, grow, and support one another. The Amara-PEPs Network groups offer an eight-week curriculum focused on foster and adoptive parenting. Childcare is provided and the groups meet in members’ homes.
If you would like to join or run a group in your neighborhood, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to learn more.
Support Group Meetings
Amara offers monthly support group meetings for Amara families who are at any stage of the process. Typically, a guest speaker will discuss a topic related to parenting children from foster care, followed by Q&A. Parents join small discussion groups to share experiences and learn from one another. Dinner, beverages, and childcare provided.
