De-Escalation Workshop – Tacoma
July 13 @ 9:00 am - 2:00 pm| Free
This course focuses on teaching prevention of and intervention in children’s challenging behavior. Volunteers will learn preventative strategies, de-escalations and communication techniques. The focus of the class will be on working with children in the foster care system.
Both De-escalation and Trauma Informed Care are required for all Emergency Sanctuary volunteers and highly recommended for all volunteers who interact with children in their roles. Foster parents may also find this training beneficial when planning for placement or wanting to learn more about how to help the children they are caring for be successful.
There will be a break for lunch.
